A gorgeous day for a run

Participants in the First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon and 5K Race on Sunday were greeted with more normal springtime temperatures, as they wound their way along the bayfront and over the John Ringling Causeway Bridge.

According to the races’ website (www.sarasotahalfmarathon.com), Jeremy Battles, 31 of New York (above r.) set a new course record for the fifth annual event, with a time of 1:11:25. Ricardo "Rich" Lomas, 43, of Venice, took the overall locals male division with a time of 1:16:31, fourth among all men. The local women’s winner was Mary Clare Parrot, 22, of Bradenton, who finished in a time of 1:24:44, fourth among all women. The oldest runner was Don Krueger, 81, of Sarasota.
